GOD: HOLY SPIRIT - Given to Jesus followers

Acts 2:38-39 | Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God.”

1st John 4:13 | And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.

Romans 8:14-16 | For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

Ephesians 1:13-14 | And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

  1. Read Its 2:38. When is a person given the Holy Spirit?  Who does not have the Holy Spirit in them?
  2. 1st John calls the Holy Spirit proof that we belong to God. How can a person know they belong to God when they feel the Holy Spirit in their life?
  3. How have you experienced the Holy Spirit in your life? (If you haven’t, are you sure you have the Holy Spirit? If you are sure, but still haven’t felt Him, have you been listening for God the Spirit to speak to you?)
  4. God’s children are led by the Holy Spirit. How does the Holy Spirit lead you? What are some things He has been speaking to you about recently?
