WORSHIP - We were made to worship

Romans 12:1 | And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Isaiah 43:7 | Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.

Revelation 4:11 | You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.

Acts 17:24-31 | He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he does not live in man-made temples, and human hands cannot serve his needs - for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him- though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, We are his offspring. And since this is true, we should not think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone. God overlooked peoples ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.

1. Read Isaiah 43:7. What reason does it give us for why God created people?
2. You were made to worship God and bring Him glory.
  • Are you living with this as your purpose? In what ways?
  • Are you fulfilling this purpose? Why or why not?
3. Acts 17 shows us that God does not need our worship, but why does He deserve it?
4. How do your times of worship help you live out Acts 17:30 (repenting of your sin and turning to God) on a daily basis?
