NO EXCUSES - Being young...IS NO EXCUSE!

Scripture

James 1:22 | But do not just listen to Gods word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

Jeremiah 1:4-10 | The LORD gave me this message: 5 I knew you before I formed you in your mothers womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations. 6 O Sovereign LORD, I said, I cannot speak for you! I am too young!  7 The LORD replied, Do not say, I am too young, for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. 8 And do not be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken! 9 Then the LORD reached out and touched my mouth and said, Look, I have put my words in your mouth! 10 Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.

1 Timothy 4:12 | Do not let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

Discussion

  1. What excuse does Jeremiah make about why He cannot follow Gods directions?
  2. In what ways do you use your age as an excuse when it comes to following Gods commands? (I am too young/too old, If I was older/younger, this is the age I am supposed to, etc).
  3. According to 1st Timothy 4:12, God wants you to use your current age and position to set an example in what areas?
  4. If you lived the way 1st Timothy 4:12 outlines, how would it impact the other people around you? How would it impact your own relationship with the Lord?
